Fran Drescher is a two-time Emmy and Golden Globe nominee for her portrayal of the lovable ‘Miss Fine’ on the CBS hit series, The Nanny, a show she also created, and executive produced.
After bravely winning her battle with uterine cancer, Fran became inspired to write her second New York Times best seller, Cancer Schmancer, for which she received the prestigious National Coalition for Cancer Survivorship Writer’s Award.
Fran has become a champion for millions of women across the country as an outspoken healthcare advocate in Washington DC. A special recognition is dedicated to Fran in the Congressional Record for her lobbying efforts at successfully getting passed, by unanimous consent, Johanna’s Law a bi-partisan bill also known as The Gynecologic Cancer Education and Awareness Act.
Fran encourages women to take control of their bodies, challenge their physicians and learn the early warning symptoms for cancer. Fran has launched the Cancer Schmancer Movement, a non-profit organization dedicated to ensuring that all women’s cancers be diagnosed while in STAGE 1, when they are most curable. Among her many honors, Fran has been the recipient of numerous Achievement Awards for her public service efforts, most recently she was honored with the City of Hope Spirit of Life Award, which was presented to her by Senator Hillary Clinton.
